iX
Conference 2007 was the 6th annual
event organised by the Singapore
infocomm Technology Federation.
The two day conference was held
at the Singapore Suntec (20-21
June 2007).
 Theme
- The theme was “Convergence,
Collaboration & Creativity – Enabling
Your Enterprise Infrastructure for
Digital Media Delivery”. The
overarching objective of the conference
was to highlight the new opportunities
opened to enterprises in the wake
of new media for enterprises, with
presentations from leading thought
leadership presenting the latest
emerging trends and developments
in rich media applications, social
media, podcasting and various other
multimedia collaborations.
The programme structure for iX 2007
was designed to provide the maximum
value to and optimal engagements
for both ICT leaders (and providers)
as well as ICT users.
For
the first time in iX Conference,
the event was greatly facilitated
and made more lively and engaging
through the enablement of 2 way communications
between the presenters and delegates.
Through the
Campfire live chat platform, delegates
were able to participate actively
in the presentations and panel
discussions. Getting online, delegates
posted their comments, questions
and issues that were addressed
by the speakers and moderators of
the panels. This provision was planned
and organized by the TDM
team. Plasma screens were positioned
on both sides of the ballroom and
that contributed to a highly
interactive conference. There was
WiFi access and Internet Kiosks (provided
by Pacific Internet)
The
format combined both Main Plenary
sessions and breakout tracks. The
tracks focused specific areas.
The main events of iX Conference
2007 consisted of the following:
| iX Opening: |
A keynote address
on Public-Private Partnerships,
which was followed by the iN2015
Updates (by Mr. Chan Yeng Kit,
Chief Executive of IDA) and Business
Forum (featuring the voices of
key members of industry). The
agenda focused on the ICT roadmap
catered to the information needs
of ICT enablers and providers
as well as enterprise buyers. |

Main Congress: |
A
morning packed with a stellar
panel of industry
luminary speakers from Google,
Adobe, Verisign, Microsoft, New
Media BC, Gartner, PodTech.net,
Linden Lab. These speakers who ‘write’ into
the ICT landscape presented many
exciting changes and developments
taking place and how it would
impact Enterprises. Enterprise
users learnt how they could prepare
their organizations to deliver
digital media and to leverage
on the new opportunities presented
and how to tap into technology
to maximize results. |
| Academic
Forum: |
This was a half
day event held at the Singapore
Management University (SMU) who
was co-organiser. 4 Main Congress
speakers presented at the forum.
The main conference theme was
fine-tuned and addressed to meet
the specific questions and information
needs of the student body. This
dynamic session was greatly facilitated
by the lively emcee, moderators
and bloggers organised by the
team from TDM (The Digital Movement)
who took questions from the floor
via real-time blogging posted
onscreen for a more lively engagements. |
Gala
Cocktail &
Dinner Forum: |
For
the 1st time in iX conference,
the Gala Cocktail & Dinner
Forum was designed to provide
the industry with a smaller gathering
to get together with other C
level executives in a setting
that provided for maximum networking.
Providing a “wow” factor
for the event, the main highlight
was the Dinner Forum, conducted
in a TV talk show style format
featuring 3 highly respected
spokesmen of the ICT industry.
The Dinner Forum was a lively
and highly entertaining talk
show, led by Mark Laudi, a former
celebrity broadcaster and journalist.
The evening had a full house
attendance, and it included production
of a webcast recording (http://wiki.ixconference.com/webcasts). |

Tracks: |
There
were a total of 6 breakout
tracks: (1) Digital
Media (2) Wireless (3) SOA (4)
E-Government (5) E-Learning (6)
Security. These tracks focused
on these specific areas in relation
to the main theme on “Convergence,
Collaboration & Creativity”.
Both ICT enablers and buyers
received the fresh insights from
the industry ‘gurus’ who
drilled the topics into more
detailed technical roadmaps and
way forward for success in execution
and delivery. |

Out on ICT: |
This was the oratory
contest to encourage students
in Singapore to speak out on
what ICT meant to them. Being
the future ICT industry leaders
and technoprenuers, the many
talented student community spoke
out boldly on their views and
perspectives. |
| Second
Life Virtual Business Tour: |
As part of the
fringe event, the Second Life
Virtual Tour (half day event)
presented by Figment (part
of ICG Group) brought delegates
on a virtual tour to explore
the many exciting opportunities
that
have arisen in the wake
of virtual reality transactions
for the Enterprise. |
