INTRODUCTION
The
Chapter aims to accelerate the
adoption of Service-Oriented Architecture
(SOA) in the industry. It will maintain
close working ties with the public
and private sectors to promote SOA
and it will also facilitate companies
to realize innovative business opportunities
through the Chapter’s vibrant
series of initiatives and activities.
THE CHARTER OF SOA Chapter
SOAC is an industry initiative that
will address the key issues in moving
SOA to the next level of adoption by
the industry and businesses. The main
goals of the Chapter are:
- to
actively promote, facilitate and
accelerate the adoption of SOA to
drive innovation,
collaboration and creation of business
value;
- to
encourage infocomm community and
all organizations that are interested
in promoting SOA and contributing to the
SOAC’s deliverables, to
be part of the Chapter;
- to
provide regular networking events,
activities and seminars to
bring
about a collaborative environment to proliferate
SOA adoption across industries.
VALUE PROPOSITION TO MEMBERS The community of SOA members represent
a wide spectrum of industry organisations,
public sector and companies that are
interested in the adoption of SOA in
their enterprises. The variety of members
with diverse expertise and experiences
from solution architecture, development,
deployment, implementation to the management
and governance of SOA will contribute
to the sharing of best practices and
enhancing value to the members.
The Chapter will organise events and
activities to provide members with networking
opportunities as well as latest industry
trends and updates. Members will also
be invited to participate and contribute
to working groups based on their interests
and expertise.
The
Chapter will also organise a regional
SOA conference in Singapore. The Chapter
will work in conjunction with the industry
and standards organisations to respond
to members’ needs by providing
direction, guidance, best practices and
advice for implementing SOA in conformance
to industry standards.
The Chapter has already spearheaded
the launched of the SOA Centre located
at Nanyang Polytechnic campus in 2005,
supported by IDA. This Centre has since
provided much needed Web Services Interoperability
testing services to the industry and
members. These services have brought
good value to companies with products,
applications and services that need to
be interoperability compliant across
systems and platform.
