BACKGROUND
The
Digital Media Chapter (DMC) was set
up in 2004 to promote and assist
in the deployment and adoption of
broadband technologies, digital media
and entertainment content through
strong working relations with government
agencies, local trade associations
and international organizations.
The
DMC’s key domain areas include:
- Broadband
Access Infrastructure
- Hosting,
Content Management, Digital Rights
Management
- Development,
packaging and marketing of wireless
and gaming industry
- Digital
media distribution value chain
- Animation
Production value chain
MAJOR
ACTIVITIES
The
DMC aims to help in the comprehensive
development of its members in the Digital
Media market space. The activities
are directed on the following areas:
Digital
Distribution Platform
The
DMC is working with the IDA and local
and foreign players to develop the
digital media distribution network
to enable digital content like digital
cinema, digital images, video and audio
content to be transmitted from one
point to another securely and to help
content owners monetize digital content.
NUS/SITF
CREATIVE & MEDIA TECHNOLOGY SHOWCASE
The
NUS-SiTF Creative & Media Technology
Showcase have help incorporated the
inaugural NUS Creative & Media
Venturing Forum by NUS Entrepreneurship
Centre.
In partnership with SiTF Digital Media
Chapter and supported by Asian Media
Information & Communication Centre,
Media Development Authority and Singapore
Computer Society, the NUS Creative & Media
Venturing Forum is industry-focused and
is designed to feature:
- Emerging creative and media startups
and spin-offs from universities and
research institutes as well as private
sectors
- Latest investment areas in
creative and media industry
- Next-generation
technologies in creative and media
Industry based
on technology
scans
- Technology/company showcase

JOINT NETWORKING
A
Joint Networking was held for the above
chapters / committees which we also
invited the representatives from IDA.
This Networking was held at CHERVONS
and approximately 60 members attended.
DIGITAL
MEDIA GRID DEMONSTRATION
Unleashing
Digital Creativity
Over the past one and a half year, a
team of researchers from Institute of
High Performance Computing (IHPC), School
of Computer Engineering (NTU) and School
of Information Systems (SMU) have been
working together on the topic ”Digital
Media Grid”. The project is supported
by Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Infocomm
Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore.
There will be a demonstration on the
following:
1. Grid Technology for Maya and Mental
Ray.
2. Grid Economics.
3. Scalable Information and Execution
Management.
4. Resource Matching.
SITF’s contribution is to enable
the participating companies for the GRID
event to gain exposure on their services
to the attendees from the Digital Media
industry and also networking.
Knowledge
Sharing & Proliferation
A
Joint Networking was held for the above

All
applicants must be SiTF members. Non-SiTF
members can apply for SiTF membership
together with Chapter membership and
admission to the DMC is contingent on
the approval of SiTF membership.
