BACKGROUND
Recent
report forecasts that the total market
size for Business Process Outsourcing
(BPO) in Asia/Pacific excluding Japan
will achieve a compound annual growth
rate of 18.7% from 2005 to 2009 and
generate more than US$12 billion
in revenue by 2009.
Keeping in step with the significant
growth of the BPO industry, the ASP/IDC
Alliance Chapter (AAC), a Chapter of
Singapore infocomm Technology Federation
(SiTF), will be officially re-branded
as the SiTF-Best Sourcing Chapter (SiTF-BSC).
The re-branding of AAC to BSC will
better represent the Business Process
Management (BPM) sector as well as
business organizations. Various strategies
will be employed to attract large BPO
organizations into Singapore as well
as benefit local enterprise with emerging
opportunities.
- Singapore
is seen as offering value-add
BPO activities due to the
higher level of skills available
as well as good English language
capabilities.
- IDC
Asia-Pacific’s
research manager for BPO services
research, Conrad
Chang, cites the example of Singapore, where
the BPO market is forecast to be
worth US$495 million by the end of this year
