New Connections @ SiTF Meet-the-Members Session

The bi-annual Meet-the-Members session held on 30 Nov was attended by close to 100 industry associates. New SiTF members and invited guests heard of new industry updates, as well as opportunities in the internship programme for companies to engage in.  sitf.loop.sg, the one-stop marketplace and learning hub where members can enjoy discounted rates as well as broadcast courses and products was unveiled.

He encouraged members to collaborate and provide consolidated feedback through SiTF to ensure that the industry has a voice. Mr Wong requested members to invite their peers to join the federation, transforming their respective businesses to stay relevant.

At the industry update segment, the Chairmen of the four SiTF Chapters presented their 2017 plans, respectively
   

  • Mr Fred Sim, Chairman of Cloud and Big Data Chapter
  • Mr Goh Eng Choon, first Vice Chairman for Cyber Security Chapter
  • Mr Anol Bhattacharya, Chairman of Digital Chapter shared the Chapter’s plans via video
  • Mr Jeremy Tan, Chairman of Singapore Enterprise Chapter (SEC) .

Emphasizing the importance of Standards, Executive Secretary Mr Yip Mann Fai introduced the IT Standards Committee (ITSC) as a neutral and open platform for industry and government parties to agree on technical ICT standards.  

Mr Yip presented an overview of ITSC’s role, mission and key standards development, which promotes and facilitates Singapore’s participation internationally on ICT standardisation activities.

Mr Javier Su, Manager, SPRING Singapore talked about “Building Capabilities  through Standards Adoption” where he explained the benefits of adopting standards in SMEs. He informed of the Capability Development Grant which supports enterprises to build business capabilities, ranging from raising service standards, adopting technology to staff training and overseas expansion.

To prep companies on vigilance and stay alert in the workplace, Ms Goh Sok Hoon, Snr Assistant Director, Ministry of Manpower presented on Secure SG.

In closing, Mr Andy Sim, Honorary Treasurer of SiTF reiterated that members can make a difference in government policies and SiTF provides a credible voice for the industry. He encouraged members to take a lead in the initiatives, and to give back to the community in the form of Corporate Social Responsibility.
