SiTF kickstarts mentorship programme with Polytechnics

SiTF is gearing up to mentor ICT students so that they are better skilled for the industry.

In December, SiTF led 26 ICT companies to sign an Industry Mentor Network (IMN)  programme with three polytechnics, namely Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic. The corporate partners signing the MOU also include SiTF Talent committee members, i.e. V-Key, Xcellink and Inspire-Tech Pte Ltd.

The new programme marks the beginning of a strong and fruitful partnership between the ICT industry and the participating polytechnics. With SITF nurturing and developing future ICT professionals, the ICT industry will hopefully get the skilled workers they need.
Ngee Ann Polytechnic, which initiated the programme, will kick-start this effort by signing up 850 students for the IMN. These students come from eight diploma courses such as advertising, public relations and Information Technology.

Under the programme, corporate executives will mentor the ICT students twice a year. They will provide students with career guidance while they are still studying. The MOU signed between SiTF and the polytechnics was held at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. SiTF EX-CO member Joshua Soh led the SiTF delegation at this event.
